In accordance with the lowest cold start energizing temperature (LCSET), transformer oil is divided into: 0 ℃, -10℃,-20℃,-30℃ and -40℃ which is used to apply in different environment conditions for electrical equipment. The low temperature performance indexes of transformer oil are mainly pour point (solidification point) and low temperature kinematic viscosity. For cold regions, low pour point or freezing point is of special significance, because low pour point or solidification point can guarantee circulation in this climate condition, thus playing its insulation and cooling role, especially for the action of circuit breaker type actuating devices.
Shandong Taikai Prefabricated Substation Co., Ltd. Transformer Oil Business Department is equipped with test facility SYD – 265G for low temperature kinematic viscosity testing. The operation of the facility and handling of oil sample can be in accordance with the standard GB265 “Petroleum Products Determination of Kinematic Viscosity and Calculation of Dynamic Viscosity”, and GB510 “Petroleum Products – Determination of Solidification Point”. The Transformer Oil Business Department selects 45# naphthene base crude oil (CNOOC), 45# paraffin base oil (Qilu petrochemical) and 45# naphthene base crude oil (Kunlun refining) to test the low temperature performance of transformer oil.
